Monday 29 July

St Jean – Col de Croix de Fer to  Bourg D’Oisans – Venosc.  90km approx. 2000m climbing.

We are immediately into the climb as we leave St Jean and take on the Col de Croix de Fer. Peaking out at 2000m it is one the alps great cols. Coffee at the top and then the long descent of the Col de Glandon to Bourg D’Oisans where we normally find somewhere to eat. It’s an easier afternoon with a short spin to our hotel base near Vensoc. If you fancy a little extra you can ride on towards the remote alpine climbing village of La Berade.

Tuesday 30 July

Venosc to Alpe d’Huez then Col de Onron – Gap. 120km approx. 2500m climbing.

Alpes d’Huez is on the agenda this morning. We have a 10km warm up before we start the climb. The first few corners are very tough at over 9% but it does ease off slightly towards village. Time for a coffee and some pics before we drop back down and make our way to Corps over the stunning Col Onron. (12km @ 5%) and onto the Route Napoleon.

Wednesday 01 July

Corps to Vaisons La Romain (this is the foothills of the Mont Ventoux).

This is a gorgeous ride leaving Corps and onto some remote roads with fantastic scenery. We climb steadily up the Col de Festre (11km @ 6%)   The good news is after this most of the day is downhill through rolling countryside as we make our way into Provence.  140km approx. 1200m climbing.

Thursday 02 July

Vaisons la Romain to Manosque . day 130km approx. 2800m climbing.

After a gentle warm up we tackle the Giant of Provence (Mont Ventoux). This is one of the most famous climbs in the Alps and is a tough challenge particularly if the wind blows. After the ascent, we ride back to Sault for lunch then it’s a beautiful ride on deserted roads through Provence as we make our way to our hotel in Manosque.

Friday 03 July

Manosque to Antibes Our last day is a long ride but the terrain is less demanding and the quiet rolling roads are a pleasure to cycle on. 145km approx. 2400m climbing.  We are in the heart of Provence now and it’s a spectacular ride from Manosque. We ride north and make our way to magnificent Gorges de Verdons. It’s more or less downhill all the way to the Med and our hotel in Antibes.
